A HISTORY OF RECYCLING
Western Metals Recycling, LLC (WMR) is a wholly owned venture of Cincinnati-based, The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ), one of USA’s largest scrap metal companies.
1885
Our parent Company, DJJ, began, and now possess a wealth of experience and an entrepreneurial spirit that is vital to success in the scrap recycling industry.
1996
Western Metals Recycling was formed by combining Atlas Steel facilities in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo with DJJ’s scrap processing plants in Plymouth and Denver.
2000
WMR acquired Markovitz and Fox’s – Sparks, Nevada (Reno) facility.
2008
DJJ became part of Nucor’s family of companies.
2012
WMR acquired Van Gundy’s AMPCO Grand Junction, CO recycling facility.
2014
WMR acquired Sims Metal Management’s Utah recycling facilities.
Today
Today, we operate 6 recycling facilities in 3 states: Colorado, Utah, and Nevada.
